Oxygen & Free Radicals how they affect us:

Oxidative reactions continuously take place during normal cellular metabolism. A secondary effect of these reactions is the production of free radicals. Free radicals are a fact of life.  Free radicals come from two major sources: (a) endogenous, and (b) exogenous. Endogenous free radicals are produced in the body & can be damaging to our cells. Exogenous sources include air pollution, of which industrial waste and cigarette smoke are the major contributors.  Oxygen free radicals are highly reactive, short-lived, and well-controlled. They are actually beneficial because they work as part of the white blood cells' defense against infection and injury. During a treatment we use a special blend of powerful antioxidants & vitamin blends to help block the damaging effects of free radicals and assist with cellular repair.

Oxygen vs. Aging

Anti-aging literature have studies that support the benefits of oxygen therapy. As we age, our cells do not receive the same amount of oxygen as they did when we were younger. We need oxygen to combat the toxins and disease-causing pollutants we are exposed to every day and to help remove them from our bodies. Without the right amount of oxygen, not only will we be more vulnerable to premature aging, but other problems will also arise, such as skin fragility & loss of elasticity, decreased cellular turnover, decreased hydration, poor circulation, and extreme skin cell fatigue.

lIP AUGMENTATION

Lip Enhancement

Lip Augmentation - from $200

Topical anesthesia - $20

Basic Procedure
Lip augmentation procedures increase the volume and fullness in the lips. The upper or lower lip may be treated alone, or both upper and lower lips may be treated at the same time. Lip augmentation can be achieved by injecting a dermal filler such as Juvederm to give volume and create a more voluptuous lip.  As we age we lose fullness and our lips thin and can give the appearance of a sad or frowning mouth, with this treatment we can freshen up our smile and look rested and more youthful.

Preparation for lip augmentation
Stop smoking if possible two weeks before your lip enhancement procedure; smoking increases the risks of complications. Do not use any anti-inflammatory drugs or aspirin. If you have a history of blisters/Herpes infection, alert the doctor before your appointment is due so she/he can prescribe you preventive medication.

What to expect?

Pain Level: Mild discomfort. 0-2 days
Swelling and Bruising: 3 days-1 week
Work: No down time
Exercise: Wait 1 day
Final results: Temporary, injections will be needed to maintain the volume every 4-6 months

For faster recovery:

Keep ice packs applied to your lips for the first half hour if needed to reduce swelling and discomfort

To avoid unnecessary swelling or bleeding, do not bend over, strain, exercise or do any other activities that could increase pressure to your lips

Avoid strenuous exercise the first day

Topical anesthetic is generally used before lip injections, so that the lip enhancement procedure is painless.

Injections: Recovery takes about 1-2 days after an injection. Bruising and swelling may last as long as a week.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Is it painful?

In general, hair removal feels like a rubber band popping the skin. Some areas are more sensitive than others. Our technology uses a revolutionary vacuum system that acts as a buffer for your skin. The result is painless hair removal

How long will the treatment take?

The amount of time needed to complete a treatment depends on how large an area we are working with. An entire back can take 2 hours with older technology. Our technology can perform the same treatment in 20 minutes with no pain.

How many treatments will I need?

Lasers can only kill a follicle that is in the active growth phase. This means that we have to catch each follicle at the proper time, which in turn means that more than one treatment is involved. You should plan on anywhere from six to nine treatments at least 5-6 weeks apart

Should I shave before my treatment?

Yes, either the night before or the morning of your procedure. Can I continue to tan after a laser treatment? It is best to avoid tanning while undergoing laser treatments. Tanning increases the chance of the development of hyperpigmentation (brown spots).

Can I pluck or wax the area while receiving treatments?

No. Any damage to the hair follicle disrupts the natural growth cycle of the hair. This would increase the number of treatments needed

Can I apply makeup after a treatment?

Yes.

What is the possibility of burning or scarring?

Minimal. We treat at the lowest effective settings. When will I see a difference in my hair growth? Six to eight weeks after the 3rd treatment

Are there any hair colors that laser hair reduction cannot treat?

Yes. In general, blonde, strawberry blond, and gray hair is not responsive to laser hair reduction

Are there any medicines that I should avoid while undergoing treatments?

Yes. Any medication that lists light sensitivity as a potential side effect.

What is the difference between electrolysis and laser hair reduction?

Electrolysis involves placing a small needle into each individual hair follicle and applying an electric current to kill the follicle. Laser requires no needles and can treat a large area at one time.

LASER FACIAL VEIN & LEG VEIN CORRECTION

Spider Veins on Legs and Face

Unsightly leg and facial spider veins – those small, unsightly clusters of red or purple veins that usually appear on the thighs, calves, ankles and occasionally the face, can be a problem for millions of men and women the world over. The problem affects a wide range of age groups, skin types and lifestyles. While they may not be medical emergencies, most would rather be rid of these unattractive distractions to their natural beauty.

Spider veins are small, thin superficial capillaries that lie close to the surface of the skin. They can look like tree branches or a spider web with their short jagged lines. They are connected to the larger venous system though they are not an essential part of it as they do not actually carry blood to the heart. Spider veins can be found on both the legs and the face and can cover both very small and very large areas of skin.

Spider veins form when excess blood backs up in the blood stream. The excess blood creates pressure. The body releases the pressure by creating new veins on the skin's surface. The primary problem with spider veins is their unsightly appearance, but they can also cause aching, swelling, burning.

No one knows exactly the cause of spider veins, but several factors including heredity are believed to cause a person to be more likely to develop them. Oral contraceptives, hormone changes and therapy, sun exposure and the natural aging process also may contribute to their development. Spider veins may also be related to rosacea, and other trauma to the skin or may be heredity.

Light and laser technology offer excellent results in reducing spider veins and facial redness.

There are two options for eliminating spider veins and flushing of the face

Laser Treatment
Lasers are an excellent modality for spot treating larger facial veins. Our laser delivers precise dosages of energy to each vein, with minimal risk to surrounding the skin. During treatment, light energy is delivered through a special hand piece directly to the targeted vein. This energy is absorbed, causing thermal coagulation of the blood vessel. Over a short period of time the vessel is then absorbed by the body. One treatment is sometimes sufficient, but multiple treatments may be necessary.

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy
Also known as IPL or Photo Facial, this treatment offers superior results when treating a whole network of tiny facial veins and the associated flushed look of the skin. There is usually no downtime with this procedure, and it typically requires 4 to 6 treatments. People with mild to severe rosacea really appreciate the outcome, noting an 80 to 90% overall reduction in facial redness.

Most experience little if any discomfort at the treatment site. The sensation and the degree of discomfort varies with each person. When pulses of light are delivered some patients feel a mild pinching or stinging sensation. Similar to the light snap of a rubber band. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, however some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.

Typically, 3 to 6 treatments offer the best results; Depending on severity, clients usually notice significant improvement within one to two treatments. Potential for maximum long-term resolutions increases after another 1 – 2 sessions.

Once a vein or vessel has been destroyed, it will not return. However the treatment is not able to stop the development of more veins in the future. Patients who have had laser or IPL could certainly see new facial veins over time, especially those who continue on with unprotected sun exposure. Sunscreen is recommended for everyone, and it can be preventative for people prone to facial veins.

Pixel Laser Skin Resurfacing - Dramatic results in little time

We all age, yet none of us want our skin to show the signs of ageing. For centuries, people have sought ways to safely and effectively restore smooth, glowing skin. Now it’s possible.

Pixel skin resurfacing improves skin texture and tone, smoothes wrinkles, and diminishes brown spots. In short this procedure erases those factors that add years to our appearance, restoring youthful vitality.

Best of all, pixel skin resurfacing treatments-without its prolonged healing period-this procedure combines the best of both worlds. Pixel skin resurfacing restores skin to it’s fresh, healthy state, generally allowing patients to resume their normal routine almost immediately.

How does it work?

Pixel skin resurfacing is based on the principle of micro thermal treatment zones, removing the epidermis and upper dermis. The treatment then triggers the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin tissue.

The procedure treats small zones of the skin, leaving surrounding tissue untouched and intact. These large unaffected areas act as a reservoir for more effective and rapid tissue healing and collagen production. The bottom line: new, healthier, smoother tissue in place of skin imperfections.

What to expect?

Your clinician will determine the ideal treatment plan for your needs. Generally, treatment involves 3-5 sessions, at 2-4 week intervals. There is little or no discomfort during the treatment. Most commonly patients experience a mild sunburn sensation afterward. (3-5 hrs.) that is easily neutralized with a gentle moisturizer. You may experience slight swelling for a day or two. As new skin replaces dead tissue, your skin will flake, a sign that healing is under way. Your skin will look better immediately, and will steadily improve over the next few months.

LIGHT DEPTH PEELS

MEDIUM DEPTH PEEL

Medium depth peeling is thus defined as the use of a chemical agent to wound skin through papillary dermis. It is most useful for the removal of epidermal or superficial lesions and to improve skin texture in moderate photodamaged skin (grade II Glogau photoaging skin). Medium depth peeling agents create changes through necrosis of the epidermis and part or all of the papillary dermis with an inflammatory reaction in the upper reticular dermis. The procedure is performed to remove actinic keratoses, mild photoaging of the skin including rhytides, treat pigmentary dyschromias, and improve depressed scars.

Vi Peel - ALL SKIN TYPES

How is the Vi Peel different from other peels?
Obsolete peels of the past, without exception, epitomize the “no pain, no gain” approach to skin care. Before Vi Peel, the deeper the peel, the more painful, the more downtime, the better the results. Vi Peel is the first Next Generation Aesthetic. It is painless, yet produces dramatic visible results in just days with little downtime.

How many treatments are required to show an improved look?
A single Vi Peel will achieve significant repair and add a healthy glow to the skin. It is a true, restorative and painless repair of damaged skin including sun damage and acne. Best of all, it is a true aging preventive for younger skin with no visible damage.

Will results be long lasting?
Like everything else in life, human skin needs maintenance. The Vi Peel’s wonderful results will last as long as skin care is maintained, sun exposure is moderate and preventive aging with the Vi Peel is performed three or four times per year and, in between, skin care is optimized with the second Next Generation Aesthetic, the Vi Derm™ Skin Care System.

What’s the critical key to long lasting results?
We believe skin care should be “dentilized”, where we treat our skin with the same care that we treat our teeth. Regular visits to a medical professional coupled with daily maintenance allow us to enjoy what life has to offer, in moderation, without the fear of damaging our skin, the same way we may eat a little chocolate and drink coffee between visits to our dentist.

What types of skin respond well to the Vi Peel?
The many innovations that created the Vi Peel combine to enable the entire continuum of skin types to enjoy the benefits of the peel. For the first time, Afro-American and darker skin types such as some Asian and Latin skins can experience anti-ageing and restorative skin care previously unavailable.

How much preconditioning of the skin is required?
The Vi Peel requires no preconditioning of the skin associated with older generation peels that can take three to five months.

Does it burn?
Not really. Patients will feel a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds which subsides completely almost immediately. The peel is applied topically, numbing of the skin takes place after the first pass. Some patients may feel more comfortable using a fan or cold air breeze.

How badly will the patient peel?
The skin peeling associated with the Vi Peel is a light, fluffy peel that will start on day three and generally be finished by the end of day four. The peeling is easily hidden by moisturizer. In some cases, the peel is virtually invisible.

What will the patient look like right after the Vi Peel and during the next few days?
The skin will look slightly tan to red immediately after the peel. On days one and two the skin will feel slightly tighter with no visible signs of having a peel except for looking slightly tan, as if the patient just returned from a relaxing weekend at a resort. Any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker, which is a good sign. On about day three, the patient begins to peel. The first signs of peeling usually begin around the mouth area, continuing for a day or two. With the use of the Vi Derm™ moisturizer, patients go about their usual daily routine. By day six or day seven the patient is done peeling and the results are dramatic!

What about normal activities after the Vi Peel?
There are no restrictions. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the peel.

What will the Vi Peel do for the patient’s skin?
It uses the synergy of all available and known modes of action of various acids to produce a multitude of positive effects. It tackles skin problems at the cellular level rather than just burning skin off. Thanks to the concerted actions of its many acids and vitamins, it will help erase fine lines and wrinkles, shrink enlarged pores and build collagen and elastin which tighten skin. It is extremely effective in practically eliminating hyper pigmentation including melasma, the most difficult pigmentation issue to address. The Vi Peel also provides excellent results for patients with acne.

How many peels are needed?
The peel may be repeated as often as every two weeks, if necessary, for damaged skin. Our recommendation for average skin would be once every three months to prevent damage and the underlying ageing of the skin. The physician will evaluate the patient’s damage, goals and expectations and make an appropriate recommendation for ongoing skin care. We preach the “dentilization” of skin care for optimum results.

My patient has a social event coming up, can she wear makeup after the Vi Peel?
While the long term goal is to eliminate the need to use any makeup, it may be worn at any time after the peel solution has dried. Makeup should not be applied on the days that the skin is peeling, just moisturizer. Makeup can then be resumed at any time after the skin peels.

What about the hands or chest?
Of course! The Vi Peel is incredibly effective in removing sunspots from the hands and chest and eliminating the wrinkles associated with sun damage on the décolletage. The physician will particularize the application for each patient.

How long will the Vi Peel take?
It’s as easy as 3-4-7. With a single 3-4 minute application, 100% guaranteed results are dramatic in just seven days!

What kind of final results will the patient see after a single Vi Peel?
It takes about four days after the patient finishes peeling for the skin to return to its normal PH and to see the final effects. The skin will look luminous and glowing. The patient will feel refreshed with slightly tighter skin. Hyper-pigmentation will be improved or gone, depending on the amount of damage. Texture will be improved with an overall more youthful appearance. You will have a very happy patient.
